Parashat Hashavua – Parashat Vayechi 5786

Rabbi Eliezer Haim Shenvald

During the 10th of Tevet fast, we welcomed soldiers from the Egoz unit

to the Yeshiva for shared study, classes, and study in chavrutot.

They discussed their service challenges with the Rosh Yeshiva.

After the fast, we hosted them for a Mitzvah meal

to honor the grandmother of one of the students.

and his friend, former Commander of the IDF's Special Operations Command, Brigadier General (res.) Ran Shachor,

who spoke about their joint service and how he came to know the late Amnon's distinctive personality.

Right after the 10th of Tevet fast ended, the Levi family held a meal to honor the shloshim of the grandmother

At the end of the 10th of Tevet, right after the fast ended,

the Levi family (whose son Avishai studies in the Yeshiva's shiur alef),

held a meal to honor the shloshim of their grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Levi A’H.

She was a kind woman who deeply cared for her family and for everyone in need.

A woman who disliked superficiality and pretense,

She raised her household in Torah, faith, and action for the common good.

During the meal, Avishai and his brother completed Tractate Tamid and Tractate Rosh Hashanah in her memory.

The gathering included Yeshiva students and the Egoz soldiers who were present at the Yeshiva during the fast.
